Students are screened during the initial session to discern the nature of their reading difficulty. A treatment plan is recommended based on results of the screening. Regular progress reports are provided.
Students attend twice per week for 50 minutes each session. It takes approximately 2 years to complete the recommended lessons. Length of completion time varies by individuals.
Lessons are held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba, located at 202 South 11th Street.
New Leaf Dyslexia Services
At New Leaf Dyslexia, we provide 1:1 tutoring to students of all ages who have difficulty with reading. Instruction is individualized, and taught by an experienced teacher. Students need not have dyslexia in order to qualify for services.
It is difficult to acquire a diagnosis of Dyslexia. To be tested may require some effort. The Michigan Dyslexia Institute at Harbor Springs provides evaluations. They are located at 681 East Lake Street Harbor Springs, MI 49740-1219, (231) 526-9282, or www.dyslexia.net/. You can also see a neuropsychologist, or, for children, a pediatric neuropsychologist.
